I've heard that this would decress loading times because fs doesn't have to load the plane. Does it? If so how do you make the plane not show up in the aircraft menu. I know this is posible because the default ai has a MD-83 but you can't fly it.

Have a look on avsim.com for a util called AirEd - it will let you edit the .air files to stop the aircraft appearing in the aircraft select screen.
