Same here. It's nice no doubt about it.
Yea, seeing those frames on what seems to be an Alienware system has me stuffing my money back into my wallet. I think I'll wait until I get a new Vista/DX10 computer then get it.
Agreed.

FSX has way too many features that I would never use. I mean, give the a good model, good water, and good runway textures, and im Happy. I don't give about AI, Scenery, and animals.
About the same for me. Bar the scenery :D

They are still in the process of tweaking it.

ahah yeah. after seeing that i am now in the process of building a conroe PC instead of the planned AMD 4200

"Did you here that guy crack the joke "FPS 3" and the whole rooms start cracking up. Then the microsoft guy is like....shut uppppp. "

that was hilarious  :D

I am somewhat disappointed about the lack of ATC updates. I was hoping for SOMETHING there, such as emergencies and stuff. looks like ill be doing more multiplayer now anyways. Its a fair trade, but i can only imagine how fantastic the ATC would have been if they invested all that money into it, instead of multiplayer. *drool*

Did you hear the MSFS rep say that the FSX Deluxe version will have 40 highly detailed airports, whereas the Standard version will have only 20 highly detailed airports.

The difference between the versions keeps piling up.  At this rate, I'm not sure if any FS fan will go for the Standard.

Agreed, the water does look really good!  :D
Your average joe would go for the standard, and your hardcore would go for the deluxe.

Partly true.

The hardcore will no doubt go for the Deluxe.  But all average Joes won't  necessarily all automatically gravitate towards the Standard.   The are many average people, and newbies who try to get the better "model" when it is available, even though they might not know exactly where the differences might be.   Their thinking is that if they're going to get something, it might as well be the best and they just don't like the  idea of having an "inferior" or "lesser" model if they can choose.  LOL, I've met a number of people like this. :D

I also don't like the idea of getting a 'lesser' model, but I still don't call myself a newbie :D

True that.

I'm not saying that wanting the best is limited to only newbies. The quality of wanting the best is probably a universal human trait, although the intensity of that drive probably varies from person to person.

My point is that just because someone is an "average Joe", won't make him automatically pick  the Standard  FSX version over the Deluxe.

everyone ssems to forget that FS has always been the shell from which developers work from. they have designed to be expanded significantly... as fs9 is now.

default fs9 = awful
fs9 with loads of addons = fantastic
fsx default = fs9 with loads of addons.
fsx with loads of addons = ive wet myself

you cant base your idea of fsx on what youve seen so far

Thats true, but I am looking forward to the missions and the lessons, the current ones seem a little dull, and I am also looking forward to the red bull air race! The graphics should also be widely improved.

The price would most likely have the final push, IRC versions like FS2002 the prices were a lot more expensive and all you really got was a few more planes, even thought this is not true with FSX (and the list of differences always increasing), someone who is not into flightsim or followed the development of FSX, would pick up the two box's and think 'why on earth should I pay more for a couple of extras', even I was one of them.

I would quite happily pay several hundred pounds for FSX if the base of FSX was FS9 plus scenery/plane addons.

Other MS products ie Office, VS2005 fall into this category although there is a difference between a sim and design suite.

If FSX came not only with full range of scenery/aircraft etc but also with full SDK with ability to create anything for the sim world in the one package then it would get a big thumbs up. It would be a sim/game and aviation design package all in one.
