Good news, the Jet Truck is now on the top of my waiting list of future projects. Once the Ducati motorcycle is complete [it won't take as long as the Hummer did], the Jet Truck will be next.

Cheers,

I have a problem now. I'm trying to figure out the rough dimensions of the truck so that I can scale the model properly for flight simulator. I'm just about ready to test the export model since it's mostly ready for the next phase of development [dynamics]. Anyone around here know what the rough dimensions are for the truck?

Am I right in suspecting that they'll be roughly the same as an ordinary truck?

Well, I managed to get the rough dimensions from Les Shockley. Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to export it as an FSX model using the FSX SDK. For some reason, it keeps telling me that the buffer limits have been exceeded. Curious.

You mean after all these years,,,,not a soul on PLANET EARTH! has even tried to make a jet truck for FS9?!

Word, get that 18 Wheeler from Simviation under FS2004 Misc files, then take a jet engine off of an aircraft on FreeFlightDesign and then put it together, get some FDE guru to do the FDE and "WALLA" as mobisone says it!

After an unusually long break, I finally decided to get back to modeling the truck. This time, I'm putting some effort into the interior by making my own version of the interior. This is because there are very little shots available that clearly show the inside of the truck. Sure, some shots show the dashboard, gauges, a small peek of the throttle quadrant, and a hint of possible ejection seat. Other than that, that's it. From that point on, the interior will have to be improvised and revised over time. So far, the interior is looking just right. I just need to work on the throttle quadrant a little more.

Hope it's coming along good Katahu.  If you want, you should post one in the original livery AND the NeXPlore livery.  Hope it comes out great! Good luck and happy holidays!

For those of you who have been waiting patiently, the jet truck is due to be released on 30 April 2008. Before that, a Beta package will be posted at FSGV on 31 March 2008. The following will happen:

Included in the Beta Package [31 March 2008]:
1. Base textures with original Yellow-Orange-Red Shockwave textures [no alpha channels yet]
2. Base textures with FSGV promotional textures [no alpha channels yet]
3. Animations for both the exterior and interior
4. Dynamics that were modified from a stock airliner in FS.
5. For FS2004 only

Included in the Final Release [30 April 2008]:
1. Alpha channels applied to the Yellow-Orange-red Shockwave textures
2. Alpha channels applied to the FSGV promotional textures
3. Base textures with Alpha channels for NeXPlore textures
4. DVC gauges added
5. Refined interior textures
6. Refined animations
7. Refined dynamics
8. Panther jet model [included as a visual prop] will be animated and textured
9. For both FS2004 and FSX

I hope to go beyond the standards already set by the Nissan Skyline [my most famous release] by making the Les Shockley Jet Truck better than that.

Just less than one week to go before the Beta gets released. Right now, I've been adding a few cosmetic features so that the package will have the basic features listed above for the Beta. This time, I decided to include the NeXplore paint scheme.

Alright fellas! The project is almost finalized and all that's left is putting together a 2D panel and a drag chute. I really look forward to releasing this on the 30th this month. So be on the look out.
