After four re-installs of the game and much experimentation I have found the perfect setting and tweaks for my system. Out of the box on medium to even low settings I was getting 6 to 10 FPS! After all of this I am now running at 40 FPS everywhere except large cities and airports where I get 20 FPS. I can live with that!  :lol:

So here are the settings and tweaks that have worked for me.

My computer specs are as follows...

Pentium 3.4 ghz extreme edition
4 gigs ram
X1950XTX PCI Express with 512 ram
800 gigs of Hard Drive space on raid.

The game is installed on my 75 gig raptor drive.

You might want to turn off thermal visualization as it eats up CPU cycles.

FSX Anti Aliasing turned on and filtering set to trilinear.

Aircraft settings are at high except for aircraft self shadows (turned off).

Running at 1280 x 960 resolution. Lens flare on, advanced animations on, bloom off.

Here are all the tweaks I have done.

AutogenDescriptions.spb Replacement
http://www.fox-fam.c...escriptions.zip

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4000
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=2500

Renamed Default.xml to Default.bak

FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.1

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400

Texture Replacements...
This is where I saw the most improvement. None of the settings of autogen that I have would be possible if it wasn't for this relatively easy tweak.

Go here ( http://www.fox-fam.c...ess/?page_id=41 ) and go down to where it says Texture Replacements and follow the steps. You can choose what textures you would like to replace.

I have replaced the following.
1. Cloud textures - reduced by 50%
2. Tree textures - reduced by 50%
I would also like to note that I can see absolutely no visual difference in the quality of the textures. It still looks stunning.

So there you have it, I really hope this will help some of you out.  :lol:

4 gigs of ram?

X1950XT <- That better get you maxxed settings.

The proc is definately holding you back though.

Now if we all had super computers we wouldn't have to do this much tweaking just to make it work correctly.

Nice that you get 20 fps over cities, but you have no other plane traffic out there :lol:  That's one of the reasons I'm staying on FS9 for a while - I don't want to be the only plane there.

Yeah it is, I can just feel it. I know my gfx card wants to just pump everything out but it can't because of my proc :lol: . Every other game runs at max settings on my system lol but we all know that FSX is the ultimate test of processing power. Hopefully soon I will be able to upgrade.

Yeah, yesterday I was tinkering with all the traffic settings and just for fun I tried to turn all the traffic sliders to 50%. It was running pretty well and I was really surprised. But I found out that traffic pretty much takes off 10 FPS of performance. So its either turn up autogen, or have traffic. I couldn't have both. One thing I did find out though is that if you turn the car traffic setting to 3 or even 2% it adds quite a lot of cars on the roads and looks really nice without to much of a hit.

What im really waiting for is a payware traffic add-on because I know that in fs9 anyways the third party traffic add-ons added tons of traffic without much of a hit in FPS. Hopefully it will be the same with FSX soon.

I really love those settings...
i got around 15-20fps in rain, is really great already...
because i only got 4-5fps before...

mm... but i would said the same things as above...
no traffic... boring flight...

but really beautiful and relastic weather....

just like on the plane when i'm spotting on the wingview...
with amazing sound or somrthing else...

I just got this piece of game when it release, but i have tried it for not more than  10 times due to its bad performance and so i still enjoying the previous one...

but now, i think i have another choice.

Really thanks for the information, its really helpful...

Great job! and hard work there! :lol:  :lol:  :D
i hope to see there is more fantastic modify in the future.

Thanks!  :jawdrop:  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:
