Sometimes taxiways look like runways. That could be a reason lol

Maybe there was something on the runway.

At least no one was hurt.

It says about the lights though and how they're different colours from runway lights, surely as pilots they would of known that?
Weird anyway, I'd love to know why this happened.

there is no way continental would have hired "a stupid crew"...there obviously HAD to have been a good reason, or (if i was someone with little knowledge of the airlines) i would think twice about flying on continental..

Im not to surprised, sometimes when Im landing on a runway with a taxiway running parallel to it, its hard to distinguish one from the other until its to late to make a change and I have to land on the taxiway.  The pilots might have done the same thing.

I know at LAS, they have wavey lines down the center of the taxiways as many pilots complained about the illusion created by the taxiway and neighboring runway when approaching on clear days.

I'm surprised more airports don't have these..

Wouldn't the ILS be pointing to the runway and not taxiway? Also, how can you land on a taxiway? I mean, how can a pilot not be able to spot a runway!! It's like driving on a sidewalk without noticing it...

Its not a game its a Sim, we don't play FS we fly it.

Well I guess something like landing on a taxi way is bound to happen sooner or later. The pilots are human beings and making errors is apart of being a human being. Sometimes mistakes are bigger than others, obviously in this case. Its just good that there was not anything else on the taxi way when the plane decided to land on it.
