Whole thing is done with Gmax, even the photo ground itself.

Australia is my home. I was in UK for 8 years with work (I design REAL LIFE airports. Paphos was one of them). Now I'm going home.

Looks like this scenery will have to be postponed to next year sometime.

Hi all. I have decided to re-make this scenery entirely. This was my first scenery for FS and consequently it was made whilst learning all the various techniques. When you learn and make at the same time things tend to end up a little less than optimal. I handed out a few beta copies to some members here and they confirmed that my blurry texture problem does indeed exist. So what I have decided is to re-texture the entire scenery and try some new things. Everything you see is done in Gmax using the same techniques that the big boys use.  I just need to do it a little better and hopefully the scenery will optimize. I might even take out the photoreal ground and cut back on some other things too. No time frame yet. Life is still quite busy. Whether it even gets restarted at all I do not know.

Any updates with this Max? I haven't seen any. Another few questions:

What are you saving your textures as? DXT1-DXT1 (no alpha) DXT5 etc.

You runway lighting, is that coming from an AFCAD file, if so, how did you get the lighting to show above your customized ground textures, but not have the default runway texture overlay?

Hopefully you can answer those. Keep up the good work mate :hrmm:

I have actually just picked this up again to have another crack at it but it may take a while, time permitting.

The textures are all DXT1 and DXT3, both with alpha channels.

The lighting - aahh yes, the old problem. As I understand it, it's not possible to do FS2002 style Gmax ground polygons with Afcad generated lighting over it. So all my lights seen in the shots are hand placed gmax objects. I did each light colour as a mdl with separation planes built in for all the colour combos (red/green etc) and placed them using Gmax itself and SceneGenX for the longer runs of runway lights. Very time consuming! I'd love to know how to get AFcad layer to work over the other ground poly layers.

Perhaps if a seperate BGL file is compiled and added to the scenery library at a higher priority then the custom ground poly's. I'm going to do some testing this evening as I've hand placed these lights before, but if AFCAD can be utilized instead, it would save literally days of work.

Can I just add my support to this project.

I've been hoping for a decent PFO scenery for many years and this looks absolutely awesome.

Will the new terminal be included???

Keep up the good work and hope to try a version soon :hrmm:

New terminal is included. See the shots. I did that building off architects 3d renders (as the actual terminal is not finished to take photos) so I might wait now until it is finished (November 08) and then maybe try and get some real photos. From the progress aerial shots I have been sent, my rendition of it is not far off at all :-)

I have modelled the new terminal at Larnaka also (same situation - construction half complete).

I have been sidetracked onto another airport I am pretty fond of as it's somewhere I have spent a bit of time. More details when appropriate but it's not in Europe.

so there's a few things going on, and as you can see I have a problem with finishing things :-)  :hrmm:
