Overclocked System
CPU: E8400 @ 3.78Ghz
MEM: 4GB G.Skill PC6400 @ 840Mhz 5-5-5-15-2T
GPU: HD4850 512MB 680MHz / 2200Mhz

MIN FPS: 35
MAX FPS: 61
AVG FPS: 55.167

Weird how I got a better result with the HD3850 a while back...

I seem to be having difficulties with FRAPS because it keeps showing MAX FPS as 61 but as the test flight was going on I was seeing frames in the 80's a few times...might reinstall FRAPS to see if that helps.

EDIT: Reinstalling FRAPS didn't help either.  Anybody else experience this problem?

Guess I'm late adding in my results but here they are:

Min: 22
Max: 68
Avg: 45.4

Felt like doing the benchmark after I overclocked my system. Went from 2x1GB PC4200 RAM to 2x2GB PC6400 RAM for overclocking to get my E6600 up to it's max potential of 3ghz on my awful motherboard: GA-965G-DS3 :hrmm:

Tonight I stumbled upon a nice little benchmarking tool for FSX when I was browsing avsim. Since many are interested in how different kind of systems perform with FSX I thought I'd start this thread to get the ball rolling. You're input is appriciated to create a database for reference.

The filename is fsxmark07.zip at avsim.com. FRAPS is needed to use this benchmark. Download a free copy here.

File Description said:

This package provide a means of measuring the performance of FSX in a repeatable and consistent manner. The benchmark is a 5 minute long autopiloted CRJ700 flight that starts just after the aircraft has taken off from KPAE, climbed to 1500ft, and reached 250kts towards the Seattle city center, overflies KSEA then heads directly for Mount Rainier. The idea is to get a good mix of rural / suburban / cityscape, clouds, water, and AI aircraft / boats / cars. Use include assessing the impact of FSX setting changes, the impact of different hardware drivers, hardware setting changes and hardware upgrades on FSX performance. It can also be used to comparing the performance of your system to other similarly configured systems to ensure the performance you are achieving is is representative of what can be expected and to compare the performance of your system to hardware component changes or a new system that you are considering upgrading to yourself.

Installation:

- Extract the content of the fsxmark07.zip to the Flight Simulator X directory located in your My Documents directory.
- Make sure your FRAPS settings look like the following:

Posted Image

Settings:

Posted Image

- All on Medium High in the settings
- AA and AF (set to App. Pref.) in your driver section
- AA and AF checked in FSX
- 1280x1024
- Framerate counter set to UNLIMITED

Benchmarking:

- Open up FSX. Choose "Free flight" and click "Load" and select the FSXMark07 flight and click on Fly Now.
- Hit "Pause" to start the benchmark. The yellow FPS counter dissappears. It stops after 5 minutes when the yellow FPS counter reappears.
- Right click on FRAPS in the system tray > click "View Benchmark" for your results.

My results:

Default system
CPU: E2180 @ 2.0Ghz
MEM: 2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC6400 @ 800Mhz 5-5-5-18-2T
GPU: 8800GTS 320MB 513/1188/1584Mhz

MIN FPS: 7
MAX FPS: 29
AVG FPS: 20.043

Overclocked system
CPU: E2180 @ 3.6Ghz
MEM: 2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC6400 @ 1200Mhz 5-5-5-10-2T
GPU: 8800GTS 320MB 675/1628/1950 Mhz

MIN FPS: 22
MAX FPS: 54
AVG FPS: 43.29

What are your results?

Hi there, saw your post here, but cant find this fsxmark07.zip file anywhere.. any thoughts where i can get hold of it?

Thanks

Hallo,
I'm having a new gpu here and want to do the benchmark of my old gpu (x1950).
The problem is that avsim doesn't send an registration email, and I need it to download fsxmark07.zip.
Could someone please upload the file somewhere else? (maybe Rapidshare?)
Thank you very much!

Update: Here is the link; Hitting resend password/reset password worked for the avsim library! :-)
http://rapidshare.co...mark07.zip.html

Regards
Christof

Avsim link

Just remember that if you guys wish to upload this elsewhere, you should contact the author.

Glad you brought this up though as this should be good to bench my new Phenom II kit.

Wait just a second here.....this is your computer as you just described it in a prior post - "3rd - this one, crashes memory loss faulty RAM, HDD giving up bluescreens, sometimes unable to boot and so on. (1 month old)" and you just posted those results ---> Min 76, Max 142, Avg 108 doing exactly as the benchmark specified?  How is that possible lol?

its possible becouse its not always the comp works, but as i have said sometimes it is stable and this is one of the times, but i only have 2 sticks of RAM in it becouse the other 2 doesnt work and i have put in a new harddrive like a week ago but im suprised too that it actually worked, but im going to send it back for repairs anyway becouse as i said its not always it works or even starts. give it 3 hours and i have had 2 bluescreens i promise you.
