Hey guys,

I really like Linux's interface and everything. But I would like to keep Vista as well.

How would I go about dual booting Kubuntu and Vista?  I currently have Vista Ultimate 32 bit.

And a 500 GB hard drive, and that's why I need to use up some space and get Linux

So how would I go about doing it?

GParted.
Read it before you use it.
Edit: Google: Vista and kubuntu dual boot.

Did you even Google it?
I will leave that to you.
Leave only like 10 or 20 gb for your Linux installation, chances are you won't use it much. Besides, Linux can read the Windows file system, but Windows cannot read Linux's.

Okay I just "Shrunk" my C: Drive to create an "Unallocated' Partition....now when I install Kubuntu on this...and don't want Kubuntu anymore. I can just delete the partition and then "Enlarge Again" right?

You also have to remove the boot loader (usually grub or lilo) and restore the Windows boot loader using fixmbr.

Most of your linux boot loader (stage 2) is installed in the /boot directory, but stage 1 end up overwriting the windows boot loader.

Are you talking about installation or UN-installation right now?

If you want to remove Kubuntu, you format the Kubuntu partition. Then, get your Windows XP disk and put it in the drive. When your computer restarts, load the installation and fix the MBR.
Why couldn't you just try out the Live CD?

uninstallation.

You are ready to install, you should be presented with a option to install linux into all the free space on your disk.

'Tis what the Live CD is for...
Experiment with the OS for a while before you really want to install.

Yes, we know. We're not instructing you to replace Windows.

Dual-booting is easy, the Ubuntu installer handles everything. Just make sure you don't select the 'use entire disk' option.

Ok, I installed everything successfully, and everything works EXCEPT 1 thing lol.

It won't connect to my network.

I try to connect...and it see's my network and it's name....but then when i click it...it shows that it's 57% connect and that it's "Configuring IP Address"  and then after about 1 minute, it says it couldn't connect.

Any ideas?
