The reds don't have a solo hawk, they have synchro pair, these 2 (REDS 5 & 7) have to keep their timings more exact than the remainder of the team but also keep formation well too as they make the 2 points on Delta formation, formation then changes to another while 5 & 7  line up for the Synchro display (BTW Synchro meaning Synchronised)

- VA Squadron Leader experience for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft squadrons and command executive officer
- Former virtual flight instructor

Does the Red Arrows have some sort of large aircraft slot? Like the Blue Angels and Fat Albert. I'm not too keen on being a regular performance pilot, but I would like being the unique "big guy"

unfortunately not, the reds consist of 9 Display hawks and 2 spare hawks, the spares are flown by the display pilots in case of lets say a birdstrike on approach into the display.

Well, last year, in our display, we did escort a C-30

Not bad at all any news/ideas on who RED7's gonna be? as with your permission i'd like to put them through a synchro routine, should last about 2 hours total practice. Will include things like Opposition rolls, Carousel, and the normal passes etc... hardest job to have is in Synchro pai lol
