Aas far as I remember your Q6600 is overclocked right?  If so I'd try to reduce the overclock a bit.  I'm sure the CPU is getting quite toasty running at 100%.  What are your CPU temps when SMP is running?

Nope, no overclock. Never did get that new mobo or cooler.
