OC's UK have a nice 20% discount on the MSI GD65 board.  A good offer if you are trying to save the pennies.

Toby, i talked to someone from microcenter today, she said they would have the SB line up on the website by 9am, so you could reserve it for pickup when the store opens at 11.

Well, unfortunately something has come up and I won't be able to get to Atlanta tomorrow.  This really blows because of the Snow/Ice storm that's headed this way tomorrow night. Wednesday might be the earliest I'll be able to get my hands on one!  :hrmm: Any word on how long MC is keeping these prices?

Sandy Bridge available on newegg. MC is cheaper (for CPUs), but I'm looking at boards.

$600 or less. Ram can be cheapish, I'm looking at these two items

Current total is $431

I have a question Toby.

I am looking between the Gigabyte UD3P and UD4 (haven't looked a lot at other brands yet). Overall, they are pretty much the same other than one thing.

Under the comparison for the 'PCI Express 2.0 x16' section:

UD3P                 UD4
2 (x16, x4) 2 (x16, x8)

How much of a difference is the x4 from the x8 (I'm not sure what it means?). The difference in the boards is $30 (which is a decent amount right now) so if I could save a few $$, that would be great.

I would recommend a minimum 4GB of RAM.  Also, if you're planning on overclocking (which I guess you are since you're getting the unlocked CPU) I'd pick a bit better motherboard.

As for the RAM -

Are you planning on running dual graphic cards?  If not, either board works well.  Once coupled with 2 GPU's, one card will only be getting 25% of it's total bandwidth (x4 instead of x16) which really makes dual-GPU's useless.  Budget P67 setups are better off with just one GPU.

Ah, ok. I'll only be running one GPU. I'll probably pick one of the 3 you recommended for Cortez above. Thanks!
