Its a bit unfair because people with $1000+ Rigs are obviously going to beat a $400 Rig which most of us have. Its like what is the point of posting if you do not have a rig that can compete with other posters?

I would also like if the people who entered the contest cannot post in the official voting topic, if they did they would be disqualified, because when they post on the topic, the owners of the photos are very easy to rule out. I will admit that i have done this, but you should not post any fictional liveries, it should be a real, or an unseen livery (Like white or black, or a cool design never posted on this site). That way we cannot rule that out either.

Just my $ .10

Edit:
Im willing to post in the contest. with the apporpriate theme, and the countdown, it would be a perfect contest.

Contenders must PM the contest organizer right?

The edited screenshots contest, perhaps? :hrmm: You can do much with a mediocre picture and a few minutes in Photoshop or any other editing program. That definitely helps evening out the difference in rigs, I believe.

I'm in favor of re-opening the contests. Count me in whenever the race begins! B)

It'd be nice to have a Edited and Non-Edited screenshot contest again, it's been far too long.  I will get in touch with Jetset and the Administration Team to hopefully get one ready to go by the start of September.

Mmh, good.. Sadly I won't be able to join the first contests, as I'm in the United States till late August 2012, but if they are still going (or have even started) by then, I'm so going to participate! :hrmm:

I think the fact that they have their own sub-forum kind of isolates them, and it's out of mind and out of sight for most of the members.

And also, the fact that it's completely outside the FS Screen Shots sub also kind of killed it, imo.

So you guys would prefer the FS9 and FSX Screenshot sub-forums to be joined as one correct?  I am in favor of that actually.  I rarely check out FS9 shots anymore but every now and then I do and it brings back a lot of nice memories.  Some of the sets beat out FSX shots!  I think it would be great if they were all posted in one sub-forum, it would bring the community a bit closer together again.

Yeah that would be good!

And yeah, the second the count down timer was removed interest in contests plummeted.

I just don't understand why they have never brought it back!

I'm a member of other fourms who have very successful monthly contests,

1. No member names are posted
2. No discussion on the entries or voting thread
3. There is a "specialist" competition with a subject that the picture has include or theme.

Screenshots should be voted on content, composure and rarity - quality shouldn't be a factor as already pointed out - some users aren't as equipped as others.

HTH.

How can you possibly try to control how people choose the best photo?

People are going to vote for the picture they think is best..you cant tell them they aren't allowed to vote for one of them because that user has a better rig.

I know what you're saying. and I do agree.

But it doesn't stop us trying to persuade voters to take a step back and look at the whole picture, not just the AA quality on the undercarriage brake line on the latest T7 carriage trolley  :hrmm:

Fair enough, if we can just revive how it was 3 or 4 years ago it would be great.
