So since there's tons of "What should I get to run FSX smooth?" threads, or "I'm not sure if I should get this or that?" threads.. I thought since I have FSX videos from practically every set-up imaginable, I would share them all so you can get an idea if you want that certain hardware.

In all videos FSX is probably running at very dense autogen or extremely dense with FSX's limiter set to UNLIMITED.

Information on aircraft/scenery can be found in the info page in youtube.

**KEEP IN MIND VIDEOS WERE RECORDED USING FRAPS - SO THERE IS ABOUT 10FPS LOSS FROM ACTUAL GAMEPLAY**

ATi Radeon 4890

AMD 720 BLACK EDITION (3.6GHZ)

upgraded to the ATi Radeon HD5870 which was a huge leap from the 4890.. average of 10-12fps increase in same situations over the 4890.

after bojote's (jesus altuve) shader mod and tweaks, the 5870 came to life in FSX.

Sold off the 5870 to a friend, sold the i7-920 setup and upgraded to the Sandy Bridge 2500k AND a GTX 570

Sold off the GTX 570, thought I would be done with PC modding and gaming for a while - couldn't stay away long, bought a TwinFrozr II GTX 460 which is supposedly as fast as a GTX 470

MSI TwinFrozr II Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 (overclocked past GTX 470 numbers)

I apologize as this is where the videos end for now - I now have a 2600k and a Radeon 6950 2GB (unlocked to 6970 bios) - I will try to get some videos of this setup as soon as possible.. Meanwhile if anyone has any feedback on how to improve this post, or have any videos to add - please do PM me.

Some notes: After the GTX 570, performance was extremely similar between the 570, 460 and the Radeon 6950 2GB unlocked. Although I experienced more stutters with the Nvidia cards for some reason.. The ATi's 5xxx and above cards always ran very smooth for me, with SLIGHTLY less image quality.. but you can judge from the videos..

I would myself actually recommend the ATi's 6950 2GB's or preferably the 6970 2GB.

Good report, would be quite useful. Very difficult to convey through videos of all varying aircraft and scenerys though.

Yes, but there is payware in all videos and people can see that the sim looks great and performs like that, what does it take?

Are you using SP2? I heard it kills performance.

I heard that back in 2007... I'm surprised people still believe that to be true. Sweet videos, BD6. :hrmm:

Ya. His site also says ti set the cloud visibility to 10nm or less, which I did but it still always says to adjust it. It also says there are no recommendations for my card, only ATI or nvidia because my card is being read as an AMD.

My memory's a bit clouded, but I swear the v-sync problem was addressed in some thread pertaining to the FPS limiter over at FTX or whatever they call themselves these days. The FPS limiter thread asked you to visit some German or Dutch site where you had to input some general info about your PC and was asked if you encountered v-sync issues (Yes or No.) and it would pump out a fsx.cfg file for you to replace your stock one with.

AMD and ATi are together. So you have an ATi card.
