Each month, the differences seem to be more and more extreme. It's very pleasing to see how far the visuals have come since FSX. Hopefully this will be a very successful release!

Interesting to see on Screenshot 1 that the runway has completely changed its heading.
Lets hope that our FSX compatible aircraft, scenery and paints will be compatible in Flight.

How about we hope Flight is built on a new engine, sacrificing backwards compatibility for great performance?

You can use the same mesh data and files, but interpret and draw them differently on the screen, for example.
It's mainly up to the devs to build the conversion routines, so that the program gets able to read new AND old formats.
They did it for FSX, which is able to read FS9 aircraft files, even though the VC is in the main MDL, while FSX expects it to be in a separate file.
However, I'm very pessimistic on the probability that they'll do it.

It's my understanding that native FSX models get superior performance (which isn't saying much ) than older models developed for Fs9?
