' these things always screw up my computer'

That's such a broad statement it just portrays you are doing things incorrectly...

Nothing i.e. programs that I have posted in this thread has a trial period to it...

That means it was some other program that you downloaded and you managed to screw your computer, nothing here...

Free trial expiration - probably StyleXP.

Nice thread Neil!  This is one of those that you don't mind being brought up again several months later. :D  I'm going to enshrine this in the Articles and Tutorials database...

Well I use SP2 with it and it works fine :D

When I first used the UXTheme patcher it didn't work, the themes just reverted to the default Luna theme :D

The only way I got it to work was by running the UXTheme patcher at the next fresh install of Windows.

about the UX theme patcher, does that just make theme changing seamless as changing regular themes?  Also, will themes that windowblinds uses work with that?

Windowblind themes won't work as they are a dedicated file type (.WBA) for that program :D

The changing of themes is straightforward and has already been explained in this thread already, a simple case of installing to the Themes folder and selecting the chosen theme as per usual.

Hi Neil,

That looks like a nice little program to enhance your desktop!

I would like to try the program and just have a few questions, regarding UX Theme Patcher...

I have read a few posts in the Neowin forums about various errors occuring when the program is run, such as in 'xpbar.dll' and 'UXTheme.dll' errors, and wondering how safe it is to use, and if its possible to revert back to old settings if necessary?

Thanks

Mark.

Errors are usually to do with people running the patcher while having remnants of previous theme programs on their computer.

It's perfectly safe to use as it only changes one file, that being the UXTheme.dll.

To revert back to normal settings, just run the program again, quite simple really :D
