OMG! Austin JUST previewed the upcoming WORLDWIDE scenery for the 8.10 update. (free, duh) Anyone who doesn't think this is better than the default fs2004 scenery is... well...

Nice, keyword being 'free' rocks! Considering thats for the whole world. You have to pay over 100 bucks to get a few mountains in fs2004... cough switz pro cough...

I can't imagine V8.10 being any better..Thats why i don't play MSFS any more.

But I'm staying with MSFS because I don't need ultra realistic flight dynamics. I fly only for the enjoyment.

- Is the scenery global mesh ie exact terrain elevation for the whole world.

- What will happen to the FPS?

I have Global mesh for FS9 and love it to death - would be hard to change.

Is there something similar to this for FS9? Other than Swiss Pro that is.

I've tried X-Plane in the past and find FS9 much more user friendly so I'd rather not switch sim.

I haven't installed any scenery or mesh before now, am I missing out?

I don't know how much FPS hit the sim can take from just a few more textures, however when I played version 8 with lots of settings on full with full visibility, it was so much smoother than FS (although FS is becoming really smooth for me now.. I think because I put 4X AA on, at 6X FS was just bad )

I think those pictures look awesome though.  I want to see what other textures (runway, etc) will look look and what the lights will look like (I'm told they're being remodeled!) as we get closer to the release.  Looks amazing
