Holy :D its a MIRACLE !!!!

When I started playing FS2004, I was getting about 5-6 FPS anywhere at any time. Then I bought a Graphics Card (NVidia GeForce FX 5200), not the best one, but something that was good for my budget. Then I put in some RAM to get it up to 768MB. Still I was getting 5-8 FPS anywhere in the world with almost minimum settings. I tried every trick and tip in the book, right from lowering the settings, the resolution to changing the Latency but nothing worked. :D But I kept playing FS2004 since it is just awesome.

But today has been a miracle day !!!!!!! I don't know who to thank, is it John who put up this thread, or is it Kevinti who told John about the drivers or the actual guy who made these drivers, JRd1st. I guess I should thank them all coz installing these drivers has been the best thing that happened to my FS.

Now I actually have had to increase my FPS target value from 10 to 30 !!!!! I am getting anything between 15-30 FPS at most of the major airports in the world, depending on whether I am on the ground, or over the airport or just in the air. This is just awesome.

I would recommend these drivers to anyone who wants to try them. These are a must-have. Just as an addition, I don't have a great PC but still these drivers bring out the best from it. I have a 1.8 GHZ Celeron machine, with 768 Mb RAM, NVidia GeForce FX 5200 PCI card with 128 Mb memory. Thats pretty crappy as compared to the rigs people have here.

Anyway, to finish this up, people, please give these drivers a try. They are just awesome. Just a couple of shots to prove my point.  Please don't mind the jagged edges, thats just coz i havent turned up the AA on the card after i installed the drivers.   :)

mmjm85, you may just be getting more FPS because you have no AA enabled.

mmjm85,

Turn On the driver or in-game's AA to see how much fps drops. I'm sure it is still quite good! :D

Guys,

John and me will not take any credit. We both just simply telling you that there is a incredible driver available for fs2004. Everyone should thank the authors of this driver at tweaksrus.com. They are the guys should be credited for such super mod driver! :D

I did try the drivers just now with AA turned up completely.

AA - 8xS
AF - 4X
AS2004 enabled
All graphic settings set to Med to High
Traffic - 80%

I am still getting about 15-18 FPS average on most of the airports and in air. At places like Heathrow, there is a drop in frames because of obvious reasons. But for me, this is still a drastic improvement from the 5-8 FPS that I was getting earlier.

Good to hear that!

now, enjoy flying . . . should be no more "tewak" or new driver needed at the time being!  :D

PS: For those who play EA sports games, this is also the driver to die for! Incredible performance on those games too:D

Yes the forceware drivers do work for the FX5200. Thats what I had before I installed these new XTreme-G drivers.

Just out of curiosity, Why the 78.03 ones and not the 78.82, or 81.26 Forceware ones :D .

I'll try them shortly :D.

Well, it doesn't mean that the greater the driver number , the better the driver.

The driver must suit your card and PC, that's the most important factor.

I tried 78.82, even 81.26, it does not fit my games and performance got worse.

So, got it now  :D

Good morning!

Just read the updates since last night and Kev is right. Don't thank us for anything except telling you about Kev's find. The author of the drivers MUST take all the credit.

Really good news that everyone is getting a great improvement and even so called crappy systems are working well. I remember starting with FS2002 on a Celeron 1.6MHz and getting reasonable performance. I was trully dissapointed when I built my Athlon 64 PC and got no increase in performance, until now that is. I was toying with the idea of buying a new GFX card but hesitated due to people still complaining about bad performance. So I'm going to donate a few bucks to tweaksRus for these; IMO it's worth it and saved me wasting money on a new card (for now). We'll see what happens when FS10 is released.

Keep the feedback coming, I'm still waiting for someone who doesn't get an improvement (but hoping that won't happen)

Have a good day everyone!

Johnpc

Edit: Just noticed the number of reads this topic has got since yesterday! WOW

PLEASE NOTE!!! THERE IS A V2 OF THESE DRIVERS OUT NOW - NO GOOD!! KEV TRIED THEM OUT. STAY WITH THE ONES WE'VE MENTIONED

I would like some feedback from anyone that has tried these drivers on the 7800GT or 7800GTX.  I am currently running the 78.03 drivers from 3DGuru.  These were released from Nvidia in a beta release.  This set of drivers are designed to solve the hideous shimmering problem many reported with the 7800 cards.

I am anxious to try these modified 78.03 drivers :D

mmjm85 you beat me to it!! :D
I'm really sorry, but I'm still getting the same pb ...  :D

Please tell me if I'm wrong :
- I uninstall the "Nvidia Drivers" inside Windows uninstaller.
- I restart my computer on safe mode (pressing F8 on boot up)
- I run Driver Cleaner and delete all nvidia drivers
- I restart my computer on normal mode, and install the XG_win2kxp[1].v78.03-HD.exe
- I restart my computer again, and when runing DXdiag, there's still N/A everywhere !
:)
Thanks for helping me !!  :)

Did you install the right drivers ?? Becoz there has been some confusion over the right file. This is the right file - XG_win2kxp[1].v78.03-HD.exe

In the post where you mentioned that you installed the drivers, you said that you installed a different file. Maybe thats the problem.

Yes, I installed these drivers ... I'm sure the pb is when I uninstall my former drivers, is that the right way ? :
