There has been a diversity of opinion on FSX.  Here are some of my own screenshots of FSX. I'm pleased with what I'm seeing in FSX, and I think MS has done a good job so far, but I realize that everyone has their own opinions.

I captured some screens when I was flying around in FSX, and I thought I'd share these with you. So what is your opinion, does FSX surpass FS9 clearly or not?

Thanks for viewing!

Comments welcome, and I'd like to hear your thoughts on FSX vs FS9.   :D
Is FSX the clear winner in your opinion, or not even close?

I had high hopes that MS would improve on the roads...

The game is obviously better, I just think that the building textures look like crap, and with all the time they've spent making the game, they shouldn't.

Very nice shots, you really make the game look pretty darn nice. :D

If it looked like that on my system then it would be the winner by a mile or 1000  :D ... but it dosen't

That's St Barthelemy (TFFJ).    Unfortunately, I just found out that it's depicted slightly inaccurately in both FS9 and FSX.  The runway in real life ends up at the coastline. Looking  at it on Google Earth gives you the real pics.

Awesome shots Jim :D . FSX was clearly the winner the first time I booted up the demo and my jaw fell to the floor.

These are beautiful. FS X clearly surpasses FS9, especially if you have the computer to run it.

Yea, It didn't look like St. Barts at all so I was wondering. Hmm, too bad they haven't put that in correctly, its a great airport to fly into.

Those shots are amazing. I'm re-downloading the FSX demo and gonig to install it again just to see if I can get it like that. One qestion though. Does anyone know if FSX uses texture tiling? By that I mean do they take a satillite picture of a place and put it in its correct place or do they just take a picture of a city and thats how every city will look in the game.

Amazing! I'm really impressed with all the new angles everyone is coming up with; Are they easier to get than with a tool like AC or W&F :D ? I love the shots - Top Down - with the 'photoreal' textures.

Great shots and thank you, and everyone else so far, for making up my mind.

FSX honestly looks awsome, but I still come back to the fact of money spent vs money yet to be spent.

From what I've seen so far, on any forum I've visited, the only single thing that would draw me into buying FSX is the water textures.

Sad I know but I'll quite happily stick with what I have, including Silverwings, rather than spend another few hundred Euro on something, just to get reflective water.

If PMDG release the A320 series for FS9, I deffinately will not upgrade to FSX for a good few years to come.

I also found the photorealistic textures to be a massive improvement over FS9.

As far as getting the shots in the the different angles, I used the new camera system built into FSX. It is useful for sure and a nice addtion to FSX, but it is limited when compared to Walk & Follow. I have to say Walk & Follow is easier and more versatile to use.  For example you can swing around the camera 360 degrees in FSX, but then it stops, and you then have to swing back in the other direction in order to continue in that circle.  Walk & Follow has no such limitaion.

There are a couple of other features that makes Walk & Follow more powerful as well.  I don't know, but I think maybe MS thought it was fine that DBS's Walk & Follow continue to make their program available for FSX as well. MS has given FSX new much needed  camera capabilities, which I think for most  will suffice for most general users.  For the video makers, screenshot artists, and other power users, I hope DBS makes Walk & Follow available for FSX as well.  :D

Jim, what are your FSX settings??????
Vlad, I have my settings at max, EXCEPT for a number for items:  I have Lens flare off, just as I do in FS9.  The effect is neat, but getting blinded gets tiring after a while. I also have Ground scenery shadows off, the 2D Panel transparency off, Aircraft cast shadows on itself off, although I may play with them later.  I have clouds as I always do in FS9, on medium and I'm always satisfied with that. I haven't turned airline traffic on yet because I'm still in explore mode, but I will later.

There's one thing I can't do with FSX and that's dual monitor. Since I always use FS9 in dual monitor mode, I was interested in knowing how FSX would handle it.  Well sadly, FSX won't even start if I'm running a dual monitor desktop.  I found out that I have to disable one of my monitors in order to run FSX. Anyone else experiencing this same problem?  :D
