I have spoke with nVidia today regarding the issue of the black box and/or ghosting of the cockpit when another window is above it. They are sending the problem to the development team, but they would like your help to see who has this problem to pinpoint where the problem is coming from. What I need from everyone that is having this problem, is some basic information what is listed below:
  • Problem - Please list off what is happening.
  • Video Card Manufacturer - Who made the video card.
  • Video Card Model - What model/chipset is the video card.
  • BIOS Version - To see this, go into the classic nvidia control panel, and click the first tab/text. This will be the video card model number. It will say the BIOS version in there.
  • CPU
  • Did you fix the problem? How?
  • Driver version. Drivers used.
  • And possibly an image attached
With this information, it will help the problem out much faster so we can continue to play FS9 without problems or fixes for a driver/card bug. Thanks

My information:

Problem: Ghosting of cockpit in views with window above it.
Video Card Manufacturer: eVGA
Video Card Model: 6800GT PCI-E
BIOS Version: 05.40.02.36.08
CPU: AMD 64 3500+
Fix The Problem: Nope
Drivers Version/Used: 77.77, 84.21, 93.31, 93.33

We all know that but did you ever stop to think that we don't want to sacrifice quality just to see an aircraft preview?

I know I would... But that's just me

Just trying to be helpful, Chris, don't jump down my throat :D
Also, the 8XAA thing doesn't affect my machine at all.

Problem: Ghosting of cockpit in views with window above it.
Video Card Manufacturer: Leadtek Nvidia
Video Card Model: 7800GTX PCI-E
BIOS Version: 5.70.02.11.68
CPU: AMD 64 400+
Fix The Problem: No
Drivers Version/Used: all recent releases !

I have 7800GTX with AA and AF set to max

With the last 6 or 7 releases of the drivers I have not had any probs with the black box

Although I do have problems with the ghosting of cockpit images when you hold the mouse over switches in cockpit and it is extremely annoying :D

It works on most machines. Generally a fix is what works on most machines, but you'll always get the odd one out.  Since it's not the problem you're having trouble with, why would you try it? I'm a bit confused.

So, if it doesn't work with AA at 8x, then it is a driver related issue, and Nvidia needs to fix it...

No, it doesn't work with MOST machines. Its split. Read up some on it as the AA/AF fix works for some people and it doesnt work for the others. And reducing a setting to make it work is NOT a fix. If it is running slow, then reducing the settings lower would be a fix because your system isnt powerful enough to run the game/application. Reducing settings to actually play is not a fix. Its a cover up.

And it is the problem I am having. Read my post and view my screen shots. I don't get the black box in the preview screen, but I get the ghosting in the cockpit.

Hi all. Been lurking around for awhile and finally decided to chip in. I too am having the problem with the ghosting in the coockpit, but I've noticed for me is that the problem is only with planes that have virtual cockpits. When I'm in the PMDG 737/747 2d cockpit only, everything is fine. Has anyone else tried this?  I'm also getting the random re-boot issue. Anyway, here is the layout:

Problem: Ghosting of cockpit in views with window above it.
Video Card Manufacturer: BFG
Video Card Model: 7800GT OC LE PCI-E
BIOS Version: 5.70.02.13.07
CPU: AMD X2 64 3800+
Fix The Problem: Temporary work around (see above)
Drivers Version/Used: 77.77, 84.21, 84.37, 84.56,85.96, 85.98, 91.33, 91.36, 91.37, 91.45

I'll try to get ome pics later.

I'm not carrying this any further, but you SPECIFICALLY STATED that the problem that you had was "Ghosting", and I also SPECIFICALLY STATED that the "Fix" I had provided was for no aircraft preview appearing. Not "Ghosting". I consider my solution a FIX, because the system is not powerful enough to run it. Also I assume that you have the latest drivers? I had these problems, each of them, then installed the latest driver and -POOF- it was gone.

My bad, I missed the no aircraft preview. This week has been pretty long for me as I am starting school, working with nvidia, working on my car (finally done after being down for 3 months), work, trying to get a 2nd job, studying to get my A+, and even some more on top of that which I won't get into.
