Here is a project I have been working on for while.

I have selected the DC-9-41. Specifically Scandinavian OY-KGR.

How does it look to you guys so far?

2D and VC screenshots.  Its a work in-process.

...just a point on the color.

I have several real cockpit images of OY-KGR and they are all slightly different in color. Probably because of camera settings, lighting, etc.  Also, most of the panel graphics for this cockpit were done on my previous computer...video card not so true to color and my old monitor was a little dull ono the colors.  When I display my panel backgrounds on my new computer they are a little rich in color. However, when I look at them on my work computer they look pretty good. (I use a high-end 3D cad workstation)

Without actual paint chips from the real aircraft I think it would be impossible to match the colors perfectly just using images downloaded from the internet.

I love the plane though and it was the colors that partly drew me to model this cockpit.

Thanks for your feedback.

If you have as high a quality shading on the rest of the cockpit as you do on the pedestal and autopilot panels, thats going to be incredible. :D

Thanks...  How do you think it compares (so far) to some of the other VC's out there? I have only seen a few in the DC9 class like the Flight1 Iron Knuckles, Maddog MD80 and the Super80.

I have a question: How does FS9 manage memory when it comes to VC's and XML gauges?

My gauges are 100% XML.  Currently I have almost 1000 indivdual files tied in with the gauges (between source code and the gauge BMP's) I have not loaded the gauges into the VC yet, but I do notice a FPS drop when in the 2D cockpit after opening all 9 sub-panels.

I'm curious about the affects on FPS in the VC when everything is active at once!  Is there some straight forward data on how FS9 works in this regard? What are its limitations?  How does it manage memory?

I'm running a P3 1.2 Ghz w/ 512Meg RAM and a 64Meg video card. I currently get about 25 FPS with 2 sub-panels in 2D mode and FS9 is set to "High" in the display tab for graphics details.

Actually there are more "blue" panels on DC-9s than the number of tan /gray. Have a look at Flight decks on DC-9s out on airliners.net .  Tan/gray on the other hand is common on MD-8x/MD-90 .....

Some more updates...   added gear handle, fire handles, various knobs and switches throughout the main panel and pedistal. Also, added the slats portion of the pedistal.
