Assuming you are using Photoshop;

Paste your image in and then CTRL+CLICK the layer that already has the preformed shape. You will see the selection made in your document. Then press CTRL+SHIFT+I to inverse your selection. Select your image layer (the one you pasted in) and hit delete. It will fit your shape   .
