Just so y'all know, Super is perfectly safe. Just make sure to download it from their site, and only their site. (E-right soft).

I've used it for years, never had an issue. Incredible Video Encoder, especially for freeware.

Ninite runs on Windows XP/Vista/7 and works
in the background 100% hands-free.

We install apps with default settings and
say "no" to browser toolbars and other junk.

All we do is install the latest versions of the apps
you choose. Not even Ninite is installed.

If you're going to be selling your PC, you can use Speccy to quickly list out the components. Or, if you're buying a PC, you can use Speccy to check that the computer has what the label says it has.

If you're just looking for a lightweight tool to slap on a netbook or thumb drive for quick photo editing, StylePix might be just what you need.

Avast! is already on the list, but I thought it deserves mentioning that the new Avast! 5 is outstanding. It's fast, work's really well, and even looks great! I am a long-time AVG user, but this new version of Avast! has made me a covert!

Covert or convert, lol? :hrmm:
Ironically, I'm a long time Avast! user that switched to AVG recently, and here's why:
  • Avast! had an issue last month that affected thousands of users when it falsely reported that every .exe file on their computer was infected. No big deal for me, but it was a huge deal that Avast! let that release slip out.
  • Avast! 5 installed perfectly on my notebook but simply fails to work properly. I couldn't be arsed to sort it out because in this day and age I have choice of freeware. Avast! makes money, AVG makes money, I use the software for free. It's a perfect arrangement.
  • Google Chrome and Avast! are now collaborating by referring users to one another. Avast! is now the leader (in terms of units installed) which makes AVG the new underdog. I always go with the underdog.
Cheers,
Rick

Convert, haha.

I wasn't aware of any of those problems, but I haven't experienced them.

Photoshop.com has the equations of projectile motion pretty well modeled! :hrmm:

Here's an app:

HD Speed - Measures both sustained and burst data transfer rates of your hard disks, cd/dvd-roms, flash cards/sticks, floppys, etc.

I LOVE it.

Ever notice how people texting at night have that eerie blue glow?

Or wake up ready to write down the Next Great Idea, and get blinded by your computer screen?

During the day, computer screens look good—they're designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn't be looking at the sun.

f.lux

F.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.

It's even possible that you're staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better.
