It was an unfortunate mishap due to communication failure between friendly forces. We can only learn from it, and hope it doesn't ever happen again. But I think bringing it up as an argument (which I'm not if that was your intentions) is not the right thing to do, and we think we should let it go.

And I'd say the same thing is it were the British flying the A-10 and the Americans on the ground, or the Canadians, or the Germans, and so forth

"I'm going to be sick" probably sums it up.

Well of course, but the way he said it made it seem like quite the understatement of how he was really feeling

Later in the video, you can hear one of them literally sobbing over the radio.

I remember this, such a shame and mistakes do happen. It is not like the pilots did it on purpose anyway. :hrmm:

Yea, I know the widow of the guy that died was pissed at the pilot and even said she thought the pilots were "only thinking about them selfs" but you have to understand the pressures a pilot has on a day to day bases while at war. The guilt those two must still have must suck. I really hope they are doing ok :hrmm:

It was not my intention to start an argument.

I know it was not the intention of the pilot, because no pilot would want to fire on friendlies. Mistakes just happen.

May the fallen British soldier rest in peace :hrmm:

Unless you've flown in actual combat, you have absolutely no right to say such things.

It's funny..an old topic of A-10 friendly fire gets this much attention, but post a topic about an A-10 pilot saving civilian lives and no one cares...do people really think that ill of our armed services?  :hrmm:

If you payed attention to the vid, you'd clearly see how much the pilot tried to confirm the target positively.

And you're right, you can say whatever you like. But don't go around accusing people of being careless for doing their job in war. Until you know how to fight a war, stay out of it. It's not your concern.

Sad story.

The pilots are right though: there goes their military career, and they'll be heading to court.
