Hello, just saw this post. Give me an example that I can duplicate... for instance, tell me what airport, weather, time of day, and traffic, and I will check it with mine. Make sure it is an airport with no add on scenery.

Coffee.

Coffee do you reckon the problem could be something like his hard drives are running in PIO mode instead of DMA mode?

I'm going to assume that is fair weather, probably mid day.

Its possible, but I really don't think that would create his low FPS issue.... Way to stick with this guy on the troubleshooting Leworthy!  :o

That is exactly the place I get the worst frame rates in FS2004. I've not found any worse frame rates in the entire game.

The view across two airports and all the autogen gives a very heavy CPU load. However you should still be getting much beter performance, than you are getting.

hi yes i agree is the worst place in the game the lower fps , meabe because bill gates live there  :o  , i really start to think the game is bad decoding or bad programming or is not optimized , i think is better if they give the license of the game to some real pc game company

Rapidone how much fps you get in the similar pic i have , tanks
and tank leworthy8 for your time  :o

Max setting, no ground shadow, day time setting, fair weather.

I tried the same behind plane view also, that makes no differnce in frame rate for me.

EDIT : that's 14.9 fps incase you can't read it.

Ok, well first of all let me say that FS9 is much more CPU limited than it is GPU (vid card)...that is to say that in a high end system your bottleneck is going to be your CPU, not your vid card. Seattle has a huge amount of Auto Gen, add to that some cloud cover, and crank up the vid card to 8x, 16x..... your actually getting about what you should as far as FPS go. If you want higher frames, crank down your auto gen, and put your vid card to 6x AA and 8x Aniso ( I can't tell the difference in flight anyway)

I didn't fare any better with everything maxed out.....  turned down the auto gen and rarely got under 20fps. Tested using the DHC3 Super Otter with floats.

Ok now this is more like the shot you posted danylati,

Posted Image

Only 10 fps.

The frame rate was changing quite alot, between 10 and 14 fps.

It looks like there is little difference between out PC's and that you have the performace that should be expected.

Thanks for that information Coffee, at last we seem to agree on frame rates. I'm going to stop trying to find out what is wrong with my pc.

EDIT : Ok the above shot was done with the memory at 266MHz. Changeing back to 400MHz seems to give frame rates between 13 and 16 fps with less change in frame rates.

I'm not sure if the results can be compared since is difficult to get exactly the same situation as before.

1. Get rid of all those ###### icons, you only need (Recycling Bin, My Computer, and My Documents.  That's all you need.

2. Turn Autogen way down, maybe to like 1/4

3. YOU ONLY NEED 1 version of windows.  There is absolutely no need for another install of windows on another harddrive..  Just confuses the system.  Uninstall the oldest version of windows and just use it as a file harddrive, and leave the harddrive with Windows and FS2004 alone.  Then you can run a dual hard drive configuration.

4. Disable Windows Visual Styles.  Since you only have a limited amount of memory, you don't need windows visual style's taking up all that memory.

5. Your FPS are pretty good over Seattle, there is not much more you can do..  Try a few things..

(When in external view, turn the view to look directly at a clear patch in the sky, when clouds and airports are out of the focus of the view, it clears and increases the FPS.

Only use spot view when taking screenshots.)

Those are my tips.

I think its because the X800 pro is so powerful that now its a problem of processor limitations.

The Athlon 64 is a very good processor and isn't the problem here IMO.

Seems to me like everyone has had bad FPS with the x800, in my opinion, take your card back and buy a 9800XT and stick with that.

What's the point in doing that you'll just be downgrading and get worse performance at the same setiings.

No, because everyone has had excellent performance with the 9800XT..  You can even ask Royisher..  Not bad performance with his card and he has a P4 2.8

Everyone has had bad performance with a x800.

Everyone I know that has it anyways
