Mrs. Bert said:
move, but tears rolled down his face. I climbed on the bed, lay next to him, and
held him in my arms.
After a little while the nurse called my name, she again pointed to Bert, his eyes where open for the first time since the accident. He was awake for about 3 minutes, didn't speak, just slowly moved his eyes around. Then he went back into his coma, which worried me, but the doctors have told me this is normal for people who awaken from a coma. Mostly they seem to be awake for a few moments a day, each day that time
becoming longer.
I'm so happy that I can at last tell all his friends good news. I can't describe the happy feeling that has come over me the past hour, it's such a great joy. It's like I'm on top of the world!
Keep praying folks - it's working!

Dispite a few others, me, Mul and Boeing airliner were rather close to him as far as virtual flying can go, and its a very very real shame that something can happen to such a wonderful person. He's put so much into our team, so we must repay him in any way possible.

This is great news, but its also on the line... So i don't know what to think

On advise of my brother-in-law I have registered on your forum.
First I want to thank you all personal for your warm and touching feelings for Bert.
I have in the past days been reading these posts and that helped me a lot.
It gives me a great joy to see how many friends Bert has.
I also want to thank Brad very much for all his help, time and kind words.
Here is todays news on Bert's progress, I have send this also to Brad via e-mail.
Quote
Today was a busy day in Bert's room, many test where done on him.
During the pain tests I walked out, I just can't watch that anymore, it makes me feel guilty somehow. The tests showed that when he is in his coma, he doesn't respond to pain.
He has been wake again about 6 hours ago for about 10 minutes, again he didn't talk, just looked around like last night. His look is a bit confusing, it's an empty stare, like emotionless.
He responded when I or Deniese ( our daughter ) talked to him his eyes looked in my direction and also when I held his hand. He looked at the tubes going in his body, but did not attempt to remove them.
When I held his hand I could feel him pinch my hand a little for a view times.
Next time I will tell him to pinch once for ‘yes', two times for ‘no' answers.
Hopefully he will understand this and answer some questions, but I don't want to push him too much now.
He still doesn't move his body, not his arms head or leg.
Today we had a visit from a rehab nurse, we had to answer some questions.
She told us that they will start rehab as soon as Bert has no more tubes in his body.
His wounds are now all healed, just the tubes going into his body are left.
---
While I was typing this Bert woke up again, I can see his emotions on his face.
He now talked ! I held his hand and asked him if he would pinch my hand once for yes and asked if he understood this.
I was expecting a pinch, when he made a big effort and said yes. I could not hold some tears. It's so great to hear his voice again after this long. After this single yes he gave his answer by pinching my hand. He knows who I am, but not where he is or what has happened to him. I told him what had happened to him and that he lost his right leg.
After hearing this he closed his eyes for a little while, then he looked at me. I could see him smile a little. Then he just kept looking at me for a while and went back to sleep.
Even though he smiled, I don't know how he takes the news.
Maybe I should have waited with telling him, the nurse said I did a great job.
I will end here as it's time to give Bert his bath, and clean his bed for the night.
Kind regards,
Annabel.
I will keep you all infromed on Bert's progress or I will e-mail it to Brad.
Again many thanks for all your support
Annabel
