Hello everybody,
I am thinking of getting a new computer so I may need your help. Reason for upgrading?....FSX (FS10), new games and I want a dual core CPU for future releases, etc. Plus, my computer started getting blue screens, wouldn't boot on start up from time to time and I have to un disk check all the time to make sue windows doesn't get corrupted and it's just too much of a hassle.
Right now I have:

Intel P4-550J 3.4GHZ LGA775 800FSB
Asus P5AD2 925XE Deluxe Motherboard
Kingston 2048MB DDR2 533 (Dual Channel)
ATI Radeon X850XT 256MB GDDR3 PCI-E w/ TV-Out, DVI
Maxtor S-ATA 200GB HD 16MB cache
Maxtor S-ATA 300GB HD 16MB cache
Enermax 460Watts PSU
5.1 Surround Sound Card
1710 Watts (11 Speakers)
16X Sony DVD-ROM
16X Sony DVD-R/+/RW-/+ Dual Layer DVD-Writer
Sony Floppy Drive
Logitech Wireless Keyboard & Mouse
17' LG TFT LCD monitor
Windows XP Pro with SP1

And what I need is:

AMD 4400+ (or higher)
A good and stable motherboard (that won't be giving any weird issues o blue screens)
X1900XT
2GB of RAM (will my current DDR2 work?)
400GB HD (plus I'll use my current 500GB)
A good 5.1 sound card
A good 19' LCD monitor
Optical Drives (I'll use my current once since they are still very new)
Power Supply, Mouse, keyboard, speakers I already have.

Will that be a good move after all or should I wait a little bit? Also what pats would you suggest me get. Thanks a lot everyone!  :D

So, yeah, I need it now, cause I don't want my FS or any other parts of my data to get corrupted because of that. So please!

No what you need a SYSTEM FORMAT... Whats is the BLUE SCREEN SAYING? And Why are you getting BLUE SCREENS in XP? Blue Screens in XP are RARE to NON EXISTANT. It all seems like XP is already corrupted and you need a fresh install....

I don' need to reformat because I never use that computer for internet, downloading or anything else that involves internet. It's my multimedia computer for games, working with graphics, storing all my photos, watching movies, etc. I never add or delete stuff from there unless I really have to. I defrag it all the time. And the last time windows was reinstalled was about 6 months ago and it is still as fast as it was since I only use that computer twice a week max.

And I remember when I installed windows, about 2 days later I got a blue screen. Just like that. I think there is a conflict between the pats. I get blue screens regardless the fresh installs or what u have suggested. Plus on top of that, sometime it doesn't even boot properly saying something like “overclocking failed" which I never tried to do. I need to get rid of this comp before it's too late to sell it. Remember, computer loose value very fast so I need to sell it before it becomes a cheap 500 comp. Please, I need new parts now.

Check the memory settings in the BIOS with timings as well as voltage.

As already mentioned, a fresh format "should" cure the problem.  :D

You Obviously don't know much about PCs...... Its doesnt matter if the PC is going to be linked to outside sources or not, Windows can still corrupt. Any Kernel Corrupts with time and Windows can be pretty bad sometimes. Well One thing for sure is that its your money so all I can say spend it wisely.

As for the Blue Screen two days after install... You did something wrong and thats the end of it...

You already have a computer better than 90% of the public. Just wait for DX10 cards if you're so desperate!

I did not screw up. I reinstalled XP on that machine about 4 times. I also did exactly the same procedures for my other computer…Hmm…the other computer doesn't give blue screen. And by the way. I have a solid knowledge about computers. I can bet you $1000 it is the conflict between the pats or the BIOS.

Basically the bottom line is,
- I don't want to screw up 174GB FS
- I don't want to screw any other data I have
- I don't feel like reinstalling XP 100times only to get blue screen after a few days or o/c attempts by the comp itself
- I want to be able to sell this system for at least $1200
Hope this help you to understand why motivations. Now would someone please suggest me good/stable/fast parts. Because I am going to buy them one way or another so lets get down to business now rather than waste time and space on this forum. :D

BIOS – Well, I have the one that came with my mo-bo which is probably over a year old by now.
Chipset dries are installed (properly installed)

Also let me point out that out of 6 days using that computer, I only had 2 days when nothing weird transpired while I was using it. The rate of something happening while using it is way too high.

Well, it's very odd because this is my 4th computer since 2002 and not even one computer ever gave so many errors. I never updated any drivers for any of those computer and they all worked pretty well. So what's the matter with this computer? :D  Even if I get this blue screen problem fixed, then what of the computer not booting up? I end up resetting the power strip only to get it running again. Reset button doesn't help in this case. Basically the computer o/c itself and then shuts it self down and refuse to boot.

Plus I am thinking on building a 2nd desktop computer anyway, so I'll have to buy new parts either way. So if I get this comp fixed, I am going to buy a new computer anyway. So, I need suggestion regarding new parts. Come on, anyone?

Your parts I would suggest buying at either http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Home.jsp
or http://www.newegg.com/

No your DDR2 will not work, need DDR400 or better
I like the Creative Sound Blaster XFI but it depends on your budget, a Audigy 2 would suffice
Check Dell for your monitor

I've been very satisfied with my MSI K8N NEO4, if you don't need SLI it is a very solid and well equipped board.

If you want to have us help you trouble shoot your current rig try posting a new thread and we'll see what we can do.

Thanks Coffee, I really appreciate!
By the way, I was wondering, How much would X1900XT cost?

I was also wondering, would AMD Athlon 64-bit 3800+ be as fast as Pentium 3.8 GHZ? Or AMD 4400 - 4.4GHZ P4?

Should be listed in newegg but it'll cost quite a lot in terms of electricity - 110w load!

I found a few replacements:

AMD Athlon64 3700+ S939 (San Diego)
Asus A8N-SLI
Kingston 2GB PC-3200 DDR
ATI Radeon X1900XT

How does that look when compared side by side to:

Intel P4-550J 3.4GHZ LGA775 800FSB
Asus P5AD2 925XE Deluxe
Kingston 2048MB DDR2 533
ATI Radeon X850XT

Will I see improvements in graphics, loading speeds or is my current system already faster than the proposed one? Thanks!  :D

http://www.newegg.co...&SubCategory=48

So far Newegg has a better listing and cheaper prices on the X1900XT.

Socket 939 (AMD64) CPUs are better performers for gaming than thier comparable Intel counterparts. Part of why I switched from Intel for my current build.

Oh, and your welcome!

:D
