Some gafs I just heard on the TV news...

Looks like BA have towed an A320 into place in front of the crashed 777 to block the views of the media camera-crews and the commentry went:

"Looks like a 747 is blocking our view..."

It sounds By Listening to a Eye Witness. It Sounds like a Go-Around Attempt Failed and then the 777 Stalled.

Speculation will fly thick & fast now but we will have to wait (up to two years they said) for the Air Accident peoples report. They will be eager to get their hands on the FDR. Until then we just will not know. I wonder if someone got a video, it will help the investigation.

Interesting what a pax said: they were given no warning to go into brace position etc, if that is the case the problem developed in the last few seconds before landing.

Main thing: everyone walked away.

Breaking news on BBC:

Apparently the Captain told a tow-truck driver:

"I lost all power and avionics and had to glide it in"

Anyone here happened to listen to the ATC on his scanner at the time of the accident? a distress call should have been published.

I was watching Aljazeera Live, they had the footage of the 777 blocked by the A320 (as mentioned above) and I could see planes taking off (on another runway of course), seen Emirates and Swiss taking off/taxiing respectively.
The southern runway is closed though.

How? Typically losing all power means the radio and all communications stuff go bye-bye.

Well at least there is one common aspect to the incident. All the witnesses describe the same thing so theres not alot of chance for conflicting stories.

Unfortunatly the media will say things, try and have the answers so they got more viewers etc... Even if the information is wrong

But how did the pilot manage to attempt a go-around (as witnessed) when he lost all of the power and avionics?

TBH i don't think they did i think they was just pulling the nose up so it didn't hit the fence therefore allowing the aircraft to clear the perimeter fencing.
