I just heard on the news and found it on yahoo news too

Quote

LONDON - Authorities in London thwarted a terrorist plot to blow up an aircraft in mid-flight between Britain and the U.S. using explosives smuggled in hand luggage, police said Thursday.

Police arrested a number of people overnight in London after a covert counter-terrorist operation lasting several months, police said in a statement.

Security at the country's airports was increased and additional measures were put in place for all flights.

British Airways advised all passengers that they would not be permitted to carry any hand baggage on board any aircraft departing from any airport in the country.

Complete Chaos, a guy came on and said the plot could have been worse than 9/11, and more than 4,000 people would have been killed (they think)

Completely scary indeed.

Im thrilled right now, just wow!

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH: As I type this, the USA raised their Security level as well...######!

My dad was on the phone for 3+ hours and he wouldn't really tell me why, but he had some notes he was writing down that said FBI/CIA emergency, UK/US Flights, explosives, allow no carry ons, and a lot more things.  That was about 5 hours ago.

BBC just said this all started from police raids carried out last night. The police had no intelligence about when the attacks would be, so luckily they chose the right time. Imagine if they hadn't and the terrorists won  :D

Nothing can land, the airport is congested (at least i think so) ; you should see the pictures of terminal three. It's just a wall of people.

Hmm They keep saying here that planes are being allowed to land. But watching CNN, it doesn't seem like it. I just keep seeing video of aircraft all over the place.

Well, just saw a plane land, so it looks like they are letting planes land. That's good to see.

WOAH! just saw some video of the BMI area, not sure what terminal that is, and it looked packed wall to wall.

I heard about an hour ago that Lufthansa has cancelled all flights to the UK during this morning

They also said that KLM, Air France and a few other have done the same
