hi.. first of all thnx for the all the tweaks.. all blurries are gone now.. but i still have some problems with the FPS when the weather's not to "fair" or if weather has precipitation or high sky covers..

from 30 fps, it drops down to 6. (only at high density areas and low alt)

Best to edit your own, to be safe.  Though it would add your video card on restart of FSX.  It would add his settings and clearances.

Open control panel, open folders, turn on system and invisible files (might not be called precisely that), ok it.  The fsx.cfg is in this path on my system.....

C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

Where Name is the name used by your machine.  Take a copy before you start and place it in a safe place.  If the file does get accidentally deleted just start FSX and it will generate a new fsx.cfg  All changes, edits etc at your own risk.....  I`m only pointing you in the direction you want to go.

OK, I'm currently getting only about 5-15 frames a second right now and my system specs are...

Dell Dimension 2350
Intel Pentium 4  1.8GHz Processor
384 MB of Ram
ATI Radeon X1550 256MB

I am currently having a 2.8GHz Processor shipped to me right now...

Is there anything else that I can do to upgrade my computer to get better frame rates on FSX????

Seems you have 2 problems with your machine, first is not enough ram, 2 gig is is needed, id also think that you are using the motherboard built in video card as i think you have 512 meg ram but some is being used by the internal card. If you do get a new videocard get one with 512meg ram, and as for ram get the fastest your motherboard supports.

Hey Guys,

Please forgive me if this sounds really novice, but I haven't played Flight Sim in probably 10 years, I recently built a new system and purchased the game. I've been disappointed in the FPS I've been getting considering the hardware I have in my machine.

My System Specs Are:

Q6600
780I Asus board
4 GB 1066 DDR 2 Mem.
9800 GX2 Video Card
Vista x64
750 GB HD
Acceleration Add on

I've tried to keep everything on the default settings (medium high), but the most frames I'm getting is about 10-12 FPS. I've read a lot of other posts where people have a lot less juice and are getting a lot more frames on higher settings. I've tried to do a few tweaks but doesn't seem to help. I'm running it at 1680 res. also when I tried to lower the res to 1280 it didn't a difference really, maybe gained .5 FPS.

Any help with this would be Extremely helpful

The only bad thing in that is that your Q6600 isn't above 2.7GHz, you'll need to OC it to atleast 2.7GHz (preferably higher)

Most likely it's the video driver for your card.  nVidia has put out Beta drivers almost every month since vista came out.  You will get all kinds of good/bad FPS depending on which drivers you're using.  The GX2 is new, so you may have to be patient for the "Right" driver to be released from nVidia.  Check at guru3d.com often for new drivers.
